Activities for our visitors
We have a computer permanently in our Drop-In café, so that visitors can check their emails. This is an important service as many otherwise lack the chance to do so.
Free basic literacy English classes
These run on Mondays from 11am to 1pm. Prior registration is required.
Women – and men – who are already expert in needlework and sewing attend our weekly sewing group. The group leader also trains newcomers in alteration techniques and basic tailoring, invaluable sustainable skills.
Every year we organise a summer outing so that families, particularly those with young children, can see places that they would not normally visit. We have travelled with visitors to the beach in Brighton and to the Princess Diana Memorial Playground in Kensington Gardens, London. In 2012, we took a group of visitors to the Paralympics.
We aim to offer our visitors the chance to volunteer in short-term placements to develop their skills – especially those who have recently gained their papers and leave to remain in this country. This is often an important first step towards entering the job market.
Our Drop-In Café is for people of all religions and none. But for those who are in search of spiritual support, a chaplain attends twice a week.
